In 2009, before there were gamification companies, summits, manuals and webinars, we wrote Total Engagement, a book about the psychology of games and employee engagement. Total Engagement is one of the most cited references about psychological science and workplace engagement. And the intellectual arguments in the book have been the basis for significant projects about games and employee engagement at companies like IBM, Intel, Best Buy, Accenture, and Eli Lilly.
In 2015, the problem of employee engagement has become one of the most important global business issues (Deloitte University Press, 2015). Organizations with engaged employees outperform the competition and attract the best talent. There is increased urgency for software solutions that better connect employees with their work.
At Seriosity, we’ve spent the last year building a new solution and team to take the science of workplace engagement beyond points, leaderboards, and badges. We’re focused on engagement in onboarding, training, customer service, employee communication, scheduling, compliance assessment and career advancement. And we’ve built our solution to be easily used by workers not connected to complex enterprise systems – the “undesked” in retail, hospitality, logistics, food service and groceries.
Our solution uses the most ubiquitous, familiar, loved, and easily connected devices ever built – personal smartphones. And we’ve done our homework about the law and best practices related to BYOD (Bring Your Own Device).
